The O-Shot® (PRP Therapy for Sexual Wellness & Urinary Symptoms)
What is PRP?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentration of platelets obtained from a small sample of your own blood. Platelets contain growth factors that play a role in tissue repair and regeneration. PRP has been used for years in other areas of medicine, including orthopedics, sports medicine, and wound healing.
What is the O-Shot® and how is it performed?
The O-Shot® involves injecting PRP into targeted areas of the vagina and clitoral region with the goal of:
- Supporting tissue health
- Enhancing blood flow
- Potentially improving nerve sensitivity
The procedure is performed in the office and typically takes about 30–45 minutes from start to finish.
What symptoms may the O-Shot® help with?
Patients most commonly inquire about the O-Shot® for:
- Decreased sexual sensation or arousal
- Difficulty achieving orgasm
- Vaginal dryness or discomfort
- Mild stress urinary incontinence (leakage with coughing, laughing, or exercise)

Am I a candidate for the O-shot?
Not all patients are good candidates for the O-shot as both sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence are multifactorial. At you initial consultation Dr. Nosti will review your history and perform an exam to determine what treatments are best to address your concerns and achieve your goals.
What happens during the procedure?
- A small blood sample is drawn from your arm
- The blood is processed in a centrifuge to isolate PRP
- A topical numbing agent is applied
- PRP is injected into specific vaginal and clitoral areas
Most patients describe the procedure as well tolerated, with mild pressure or brief stinging.
Is the O-Shot® safe?
- Temporary swelling or bruising
- Mild discomfort or pressure
- Spotting
- Infection (rare)
PRP treatments like the O-Shot are not FDA approved for aesthetic use because the regulatory agency doesn’t govern blood biologics. However, as a certified provider of the O-Shot, Dr. Nosti uses FDA-approved devices to prepare the PRP used for the O-Shot.
What to expect during recovery
When will I see results?
- Some patients notice changes within a few weeks
- Others may take 2–3 months
- Results, if present, are typically temporary and may last 6–12 months
Repeat treatments are sometimes requested, though optimal treatment intervals are patient dependant.
Is the O-Shot® covered by insurance?
What if the O-shot doesn’t work?
The O-shot is highly effective for the vast majority of patients. However, like any intervention, the O-shot does not work for all patients. If you have the procedure and after 3-4 months it does not produce the desired effect, Dr. Nosti will reevaluate you. An additional treatment may be recommended at no cost to you or your money will be refunded. There are other treatments available for both sexual dysfunction and incontinence all of which are offered at Urogynecology of Kansas City. These treatments will be reviewed and discussed at that length. Ultimately, we are here to make you better and if the O-shot does not help we will work to find an alternative.
