Surgical Procedures Offered at Urogynecology of Kansas City
Prolapse Surgery
When the organs or structures surrounding the vaginal canal protrude into the vaginal canal, this is known as prolapse. This leads to medical issues such as bowel issues, urinary problems, and even sexual dysfunction problems. We perform a number of vaginal surgeries, including robotic surgeries, to correct a prolapse. Prolapse surgery is recommended for women with moderate to severe prolapse.
Urinary Incontinence
Patients with bladder-control issues may suffer from urinary incontinence. Women can suffer from either stress urinary incontinence (SUI) or overactive bladder (OAB), also known as urge incontinence.
We offer surgical management for urinary incontinence. Our surgical procedures for stress urinary incontinence are the mid-urethral sling and urethral bulking. For overactive bladder, we recommend several options, including InterStim therapy, Botox, and PTNS (Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation).
Painful Intercourse
Many women can experience painful intercourse (dyspareunia). This may be due to physical causes, which can occur at the entry point or the deeper vaginal area. The pain can be experienced during penetration, thrusting, or hours after intercourse. We will recommend suitable treatment options depending on the findings of a physical examination during the consultation.
Fecal Incontinence
The inability to control bowel movements is called fecal incontinence. There are several causes of fecal incontinence, including childbirth injuries, anal sphincter damage, nerve damage, pelvic organ prolapse, and fistulas.
Pelvic Reconstruction
Conditions in this category include fistulas, diverticulum, anal sphincter defects and mesh complications. While the etiologies of these conditions vary greatly, they all demand a thorough understanding of pelvic anatomy and significant experience.
Mesh Complications
Labiaplasty
A labiaplasty is also known as labia surgery or labia reduction surgery. This surgery procedure is recommended for women whose vaginal inner lips (labia minora) reach past the outer lips (labia majora). Women with this condition experience pain, itching, and irritation.
Your Consultation
The consultation will start with a discussion of the health problems that you are experiencing. A physical exam will be performed, as well as an evaluation of your medical history. Ideal surgical procedures will be presented and discussed.
