SoLa Therapy
Chronic pelvic pain is common but often misunderstood. In fact, 15% to 20% of all women have chronic pelvic pain. Dr. Butrick has helped patients with chronic pelvic pain for the last 30 years and has been instrumental in the development of SoLa pelvic therapy. This new therapy involves the use of photobiomodulation for the treatment of pelvic floor myalgia-muscle pain. The research that Dr. Butrick and others have done over the past 20 years demonstrates that the majority of patients with chronic pelvic pain have at least a component of pain arising from tight, tender pelvic floor muscles.
Many therapies have been attempted but none have demonstrated the benefit that SoLa pelvic therapy provides for patients with pelvic pain. Patients with interstitial cystitis, vulvodynia, pain with intercourse, endometriosis related pain, rectal pain have all found that SoLa therapy has provided benefit even though they have failed other therapeutic approaches. SoLa pelvic therapy has demonstrated that 80% of patients will have a significant improvement in their pain and approximately two thirds of those patients will have pain reduced to either none or very mild with less than 30 minutes of treatment time. Treatment involves a brief visit to the office approximately 2 times a week for 4 weeks.
